This Newton residence underwent a comprehensive interior renovation focused on transforming key living spaces including the kitchen, mudroom, and primary suite. The HDG team designed modern spaces that balance functionality with warmth.
At the heart of the renovation, the kitchen was reimagined as a bright and sophisticated place to gather. Custom cabinetry in soft white finish pairs with a wall of walnut that includes a pantry and integrated refrigerator. The generous island anchors the room, providing areas for prep, cooking, and casual dining.
The mudroom combines utility with craftsmanship, featuring bespoke millwork in warm oak tones, concealed storage and clever folding coat hooks. Practicality blends with minimalism, creating a clean transition from exterior to interior.
In the primary bedroom, a sense of calm takes center stage. A neutral palette, tactile fabrics, and sculptural wall art create a serene retreat. HDG collaborated with Christina Watka Studio on the installation. Her “murmurations” piece elegantly mirrors the distinctive contours of St. Barts, a place where the family has visited many times.
The primary bathroom embodies a spa-like tranquility, with a freestanding soaking tub, walk-in shower, natural stone surfaces, and fixtures in matte black. Venetian plaster provides texture and a nod to Italian design. A double-sink vanity with plenty of storage offers luxury and efficiency.
Architectural lighting and modern pendants create ambiance throughout the house. This renovation celebrates elevated design solutions, thoughtful material choices, and superb craftsmanship. Every space combines modern refinement with enduring comfort.
